The American Red Cross accepting Donations

The American Red Cross is responding to the devastating earthquake in Haiti yesterday. So far they have committed $10 million to relief efforts there.

Donations are being accepted at this time to help with this vast humanitarian challenge. Please send a contribution to the American Red Cross International Response Fund, which will provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need because of international disasters. You can make a donation via a mobile texting service offered through Mobile Accord and the State Department’s third-party fundraiser. Donors can text “HAITI” to “90999″ and a donation of $10 will be given to the Red Cross to help with relief efforts.

Donations to the International Response Fund can also be sent to your local chapter; or mailed the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, D.C. 20013; or made by phone at 1-800-REDCROSS or 1-800-257-7575 (Spanish); or submitted online at www.redcross.org.
